Technical Sales Engineer

As a Technical Sales Engineer, you will be responsible for actively developing new customer relationships and expanding existing partnerships within the maritime market. You will proactively approach shipyards, shipowners, and other potential customers, identify commercial opportunities, and translate technical challenges into suitable solutions.

With the growing retrofit market and increasing demand for alternative fuels, there are plenty of opportunities. These include solutions involving hydrogen, methanol, and ammonia. In your role, you will help MSN capitalize on these opportunities and further expand its presence in the sustainable maritime sector.

What makes us unique?

Marine Service Noord (MSN) is an innovative and sustainably operating company in the maritime sector, specializing in energy systems, advanced technology and complex piping systems for luxury yachts and commercial vessels. Since 1988, MSN has completed more than 700 full installations and over 2,350 kilometers of piping, always working closely with the client from design through to commissioning. MSN is driving innovation in the energy transition by developing advanced systems for hydrogen, methanol and other alternative fuels.

Trust, development and innovation form the foundation of our organization. Our employees have the opportunity to grow and develop while actively contributing to high-quality and future-focused solutions. As MSN continues to grow and evolve, we are always looking for talented professionals who share our ambition to shape a sustainable future for the maritime industry.

The challenge

In this role, you will be responsible for developing commercial opportunities and maintaining existing customer relationships. You will spend a significant amount of time on the road, identifying and approaching potential customers and interesting projects within the maritime sector. Your focus will be on shipyards and other relevant parties within the superyacht and commercial shipping industries.

You will build a strong network, maintain relationships, and know how to translate technical possibilities into concrete commercial opportunities. You will also regularly attend networking events, trade shows, and industry events, including those focused on superyacht construction and alternative fuels.

In addition, you will be involved in defining project scope and translating customer requirements into technical proposals. You will prepare quotations, cost estimates, and budgets, and contribute to the successful delivery of projects.

Your technical background enables you to engage with customers on a technical level and quickly understand their challenges and requirements. In addition to a commercial mindset, we value a strong technical foundation, preferably in mechanical engineering. You understand technology, enjoy working with customers, and are eager to further develop your career in Sales.

This position offers plenty of room for growth into a senior commercial role, where you will gradually take on greater responsibility for strategic accounts, market development, and commercial management.

What are we looking for?

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional and intellectual ability, preferably in Mechanical Engineering, Technical Business Administration, or a related field;

  • At least 5 years of relevant work experience in a technical or commercial position, preferably within shipbuilding, offshore, piping, or a similar technical environment;

  • A strong technical foundation and an affinity with the maritime sector;

  • Commercially driven, entrepreneurial, and results-oriented;

  • Willingness to regularly visit customers, shipyards, and industry events;

  • Excellent command of both Dutch and English.

What do we offer?

At MSN, you will be part of a close-knit and open team of around 100 employees. MSN is known for its people-oriented approach and warm working environment, where employees feel valued and heard. This is reflected in teams built on trust and opportunities for personal and professional development, where colleagues look out for one another. There is also plenty of room for socializing outside of work. Our staff association organizes enjoyable events at least twice a year, and every year we get together for a summer barbecue and a festive Christmas gathering.

We offer an attractive gross monthly salary between €5.000 and €6.000, depending on your education and experience. Based on a full-time position, you will receive 27 vacation days and 13 ADV days. In addition, we offer collective disability insurance, a reliable pension scheme in accordance with the Metalektro collective labour agreement (CAO), employee discounts, a bicycle scheme and a travel allowance.
