Employee Story: Rick Boneschansker

"It feels like coming home"

Sometimes a career takes a different path than you initially imagined. This is certainly true for Rick Boneschansker. Growing up, Rick spent his childhood at his father's tree nursery, where he started helping out at a young age. After completing his education in Transport & Logistics, he attended an open day at MSO with one goal in mind: to take a welding course. During a conversation, however, one of the instructors immediately recognized that Rick would be better suited to pipe fitting. Through MSO, he joined MSN, a recognized training company affiliated with MSO. A decision that has now formed the foundation of his career for more than twenty years.

"I actually came for a welding course, but after just one conversation, it became clear that pipe fitting suited me better. Looking back, it was the best decision I could have made."

Rick started at MSN as a pipe fitter and experienced every step of the execution process. He progressed from working foreman to foreman and is now Outfitting Coordinator for the Van Lent account.

Because he has personally performed all these roles on the work floor, he has a strong understanding of the challenges his colleagues face every day. He brings that practical experience into his current role every day.

The link between the work floor and the project

As Outfitting Coordinator, Rick works together with the project manager to ensure the successful execution of all projects within the Van Lent account. His role is broad and varied. Among other things, he is responsible for personnel planning within the flexible workforce, monitoring project progress, preparing production documents such as drawings and sketches, and checking the safety and quality of the work on board. He also supports working foremen and foremen, and contributes ideas during tendering processes and contract negotiations.

"What I enjoy about my work is the combination of the office and the work floor. I am present on the projects at least three days a week. This allows me to stay involved in the execution while knowing exactly what is going on."

No project is the same. Every assignment brings new challenges and requires good cooperation between all colleagues involved.

Building something special together

According to Rick, this collaboration is one of MSN's greatest strengths. He describes the atmosphere within the company as close-knit and committed.

"The colleagues have really created a family atmosphere. You help each other, the atmosphere is great, and you work with people from different cultures. That makes the work not only varied, but also incredibly enjoyable."

As the link between the work floor and the project manager, Rick sees every day how important good communication and cooperation are. Thanks to open lines of communication and mutual trust, projects can be carried out efficiently and challenges can be resolved quickly.

Proud of the results we achieve together

After all these years, MSN still feels like the right place for Rick. He has been working here since 2006 and knows what he has found here. It feels like coming home, thanks in part to the variety in his work, his colleagues, and the close-knit collaboration. As a result, he looks forward to going to work every day.

What he is most proud of is not one specific project, but the moment when a team successfully completes and delivers a project together.

"When you have realized a complete system on board a yacht together and the project is delivered, it really gives you a sense of pride. You did it together."
